Ben Hall

Ben Hall

Director

Ben is a principal acoustics consultant and project manager who has worked on major infrastructure across the town planning, water, road, rail, airport, mining, petroleum and energy sectors, in Australia and internationally. That breadth is unusual — spanning the planning, technical and delivery sides of a project — letting him weigh not just the noise and vibration impacts infrastructure creates, but which mitigation measures are genuinely reasonable and feasible. His practical mitigation solutions have been implemented on projects throughout Australia and overseas, and his work and publications have won national awards in both the design and environmental fields of acoustics. Ben has also developed a suite of acoustics and vibration modelling software and online noise and vibration assessment tools, and programs AI systems to detect audio events — across both airborne and underwater noise, from species to anthropogenic sound — keeping Matrix Acoustics at the technical forefront of the field.

Asbjorn Hansen

Asbjorn Hansen

Principal Engineer (RPEQ)

Asbjorn is a principal acoustic engineer with more than 18 years' experience across infrastructure, building, mining and energy projects. Holding a Master of Science and Technology from the University of Southern Denmark and registered as a professional engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), he brings the pragmatism and clarity of an R&D background to difficult acoustic design. His work spans environmental and transport noise, building acoustics, and workplace noise assessment — from whole-of-network rail noise modelling for Queensland Rail and the Inland Rail freight corridor, to performance-venue compliance, pumped hydro and solar developments, and the preparation of acoustic guidelines for government. Asbjorn is a member of the Australian Acoustical Society and a registered professional engineer of Queensland.

Andrew Durrer

Andrew Durrer

Senior Engineer

Andrew is a senior acoustic and vibration engineer with over nine years' experience across Queensland and New South Wales. A mechanical engineering graduate of QUT, he has worked across the oil and gas, transport, mining, commercial and residential sectors, with particular depth in CSG well noise assessments and measurements, and road and rail — including the Coomera Connector, the M4-M5 Link, the Merrimac Train Station design and construction, and the Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade. His expertise spans environmental acoustics, construction noise and vibration, building acoustics, and transmissibility testing. Andrew is a member of the Australian Acoustical Society and Engineers Australia.

Lizeth Valderrama

Liz Valderrama

Engineer

Lizeth is an environmental engineer specialising in acoustics, with experience measuring, assessing and analysing noise and vibration across road, rail, mining, industrial and water projects. An environmental and sanitary engineering graduate of La Salle University in Colombia, her project experience spans road construction and operation, building acoustics, and pumped hydro energy storage — including the Coomera Connector, the Cairns Ring Road, the Townsville Connection Road, and the Borumba pumped hydro scheme. She works across both English and Spanish.

Liz is a leading specialist in acoustic detection of species using AI models.

Anton Wolf

Anton Wolf

Engineer

Anton is an acoustics engineer who brings a media and acoustical engineering degree, specialising in acoustics, from Hochschule Mittweida in Germany. He has worked as an acoustical engineer at Marshall Day Acoustics in Christchurch — carrying out environmental noise surveys, building acoustics measurements and modelling — and gained earlier experience with German acoustics and signal-processing firms, including microphone array design and Python-based analysis of measurement data. That combination of measurement, audio and programming skill positions him well to contribute to Matrix Acoustics' growing work in passive monitoring and automated acoustic analysis. Anton works fluently in English and German.
